Ted DeGrazia is the Southwest's most famous and beloved artist. His creative path is laid in magical desert landscapes and in the mystical Indian and Mexican cultures he loves. His warmth and humanity are reflected in the eyes of the angels and children that have become his artistic trademark.

His vibrant colors add great beauty and excitement to all his creations. It is a tribute to DeGrazia that his unique style has such universal appeal. His life and work have been depicted in numerous books and in Arizona Highways for over 50 years.

He has explored a host of media, including bronze, stone lithography, oils, film, printmaking, and architecture. His materials range from traditional paints to delightfully adapeted desert foliage.

The son of Italian immigrants, Ettore "Ted" DeGrazia was born June 14, 1909, in the mining camp of Morenci in eastern Arizona. While his father worked in the mine, DeGrazia grew up with a passion for music and art.

By the time he enrolled at the University of Arizona in Tucson, he was an accomplished musician and bandleader while earning degrees in art and education.

DeGrazia gained worldwide fame with the selection of his painting Los Niņos for UNICEF cards in 1960. Since then, his paintings and sketches of children, angels and native Southwestern cultures have been reproduced on greeting cards, prints, collector plates, jewelry, stained glass ornaments, Goebel figurines and more, making DeGrazia one of the world's most reproduced artists.

On September 17, 1982, at the age of 73, he passed away after battling cancer for nearly two years. He is buried at his beloved Gallery in the Sun beside the adobe chapel he designed and built in honor of the Virgin of Guadalupe and Padre Kino.
